Settings & Preferences

Accessing Settings

Your settings are available through the /wallet command or via the Settings button in the main menu.

Language

Swaptain is available in 15 languages:

| | | | |---|---|---| | English | German | Spanish | | French | Hindi | Indonesian | | Italian | Japanese | Korean | | Dutch | Polish | Portuguese | | Russian | Turkish | Simplified Chinese |

Change your language at any time through Settings. All bot messages, buttons, and notifications will switch to your chosen language.

Slippage Tolerance

Default: 3%

Slippage tolerance is the maximum price movement you'll accept during a swap. If the market moves beyond your tolerance while your swap is being processed, the transaction is cancelled and your funds are returned.

| Setting | Best For | |---------|----------| | 1-2% | Stable pairs, large-cap tokens | | 3% (default) | Most swaps — good balance of execution and protection | | 5%+ | Volatile tokens, small-cap assets, fast-moving markets |

Setting slippage too low may cause swaps to fail during normal market volatility. Setting it too high means you could receive significantly less than quoted. The 3% default works well for most trades.

Swap Preference

Choose how your swaps are executed:

Best Price (Default)

Uses streaming swaps when available — your trade is broken into smaller pieces executed over multiple blocks for optimal pricing. This typically gives you a better rate, especially on larger trades.

Fastest Execution

Executes your swap in a single transaction for the fastest settlement. May result in slightly more slippage on larger trades, but gets you your tokens sooner.

Stick with Best Price for most situations. Switch to Fastest Execution when you need to act quickly on a fast-moving market opportunity.

Auto Approve

Default: Enabled

On EVM chains (Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, etc.), token contracts need to be "approved" before they can be swapped. With Auto Approve enabled, Swaptain handles this automatically as part of the swap flow.

If disabled, you'll be prompted to manually approve each token before swapping it for the first time.

Synthetics

Default: Disabled (Beta)

Synthetic assets are representations of tokens on THORChain. When enabled, synthetic assets may appear as routing options in your swaps. This feature is currently in beta.

Enabled Chains

Default: All chains enabled

You can enable or disable specific blockchains. Disabled chains won't appear in your:

  • Balance display
  • Deposit address list
  • Token search results
  • Swap source/destination options

This is useful if you only trade on a few chains and want a cleaner interface.

Disabling a chain doesn't affect any tokens you hold on that chain. Your funds remain safe and accessible — just re-enable the chain to see them again.

Notifications

Swaptain sends real-time Telegram notifications to keep you informed. You can toggle each category:

| Notification | Type | Default | |-------------|------|---------| | Swap Completed | Transactional | On | | Swap Progress | Progress (silent) | On | | Deposit Received | Transactional | On | | Withdrawal Sent | Transactional | On | | Swap Failed | Critical | Always on |

Swap Failed notifications are always enabled and cannot be turned off. These alert you to issues that may require action, such as recovering stranded assets.

Notification Types

  • Critical — always sent with sound (e.g., swap failures)
  • Transactional — sent with sound unless disabled (e.g., swap completed)
  • Progress — sent silently (no sound) unless disabled (e.g., swap leg updates)
